The Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program helps people who have prediabetes lower their chance of getting type 2 diabetes.
You work with a trained coach and learn simple ways to:
- Eat healthier
- Be more active
- Manage your weight
- Build healthy habits that can last
The program starts with weekly sessions. Later, sessions happen about once a month.
If you qualify, Medicare pays for the program and you pay $0.
Who may qualify?
You may qualify if:
- You have Medicare Part B.
- A blood test in the last 12 months shows that you have prediabetes.
- Your BMI meets Medicare's requirement.
- You have not been diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
- You do not currently have an eligibility issue related to End-Stage Renal Disease.
